Vauxhall Corsa VXR Review
When it comes to fast small hatchbacks, there is one that takes on all its rivals and can triumph. The Vauxhall Corsa VXR are a serious road dominator, how good is it really?
When it comes to its looks, the Corsa VXR looks both fast, animalistic and smooth all in one good looking package. When you look at the VXR edition of the Corsa, you know that this car has power under its bonnet and it knows precisely how to use it.
Engine
Vauxhall have given the Corsa VXR a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 205 bhp. From that 205, the Corsa VXR can sprint from 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, which is faster than all of its main rivals. After 60mph, the Corsa VXR can keep going all the way up to 143 mph, which is the same for all its rivals and considering it is double the national speed limit, you can’t really complain about that. With this version of the VXR, you truly feel like this car can handle the power and knows exactly how to use it.
Now we know for this kind of car, fuel economy and running costs aren’t the biggest concern, however the Corsa VXR does have a combined fuel economy of 37.7 mpg. This results in road tax costing £205 per year. However, with certain car lease deals, the road tax could be rolled into your monthly payments.
Interior
When it comes to the new Corsa VXR, you are sitting in a fresh, well-considered interior. The dashboard has a simply layout with the crystal-clear infotainment screen in the centre. The material and plastic inside is good quality and makes you feel like you are in a good place to be.
When it comes to space for drivers and passengers, the Corsa VXR delivers this is spades. It only comes in a three door edition, which comes with a sloping roof at the rear, however this does not affect the headroom of back passengers. Front passengers have a great amount of both headroom and legroom, with very supporting Recaro sports seats. Boot space with the seats up is 285-litres, however when those rear seats are dropped, that capacity increases to 952.
Drive
This is the best Corsa VXR ever made for driving. It handles well in the corners, massively reduced body lean and has plenty of grip available. The steering is quick acting and very responsive in its setup. Vauxhall understand that drivers still love manual gearboxes and with the Corsa VXR, they have maintained just that. The manual gearbox ensures that the driver feels far more involved with the actually car than they would with an automatic. If you are want one of the best small hot hatchbacks available on the market then car leasing is the best, most affordable way of getting it.
