7 hard-working, no-deposit vans for sole traders

If you are a sole trader or a tradesperson that relies on a van for your work – whether you are ferrying passengers or you are travelling from home to the job site – there is something great about picking out your new or used van and not having to put any money down for deposit. A no deposit lease or finance agreement is a straightforward deal that lets you keep the deposit capital outlay in your pocket and make the budgeting easy for the agreed lease period.

So, since you’re not setting cash aside for a downpayment, all you need is to pick out the van you’ll be leasing. Zero Deposit Car Leasing has picked out seven workhorse vans that are hard to beat for their reliability, how economical they are, and their utility as commercial use vehicles.

Vauxhall Combo Cargo

Let’s start with a British favourite, the Vauxhall Combo L1 Diesel 2000 1.6 Cdti H1 Edition Van also called the Vauxhall Combo Cargo. It’s got a brand new design and overhaul for 2019 and it shows on the outside with the Combo looking great from the front which is no surprise when you consider that it uses the design from modern passenger Citroens and Peugeots and it has a rugged but sporty look. Load space is well thought out and the Combo Cargo can get up to 3.4m cubed of load plus its clever flex cargo pack with load through hatch means that you can accommodate load lengths up to 3.44 metres.

The new version is packed with connectivity and safety features all of which the helpful Zero Deposit Car Leasing account managers will be happy to discuss with you. It’s worth keeping in mind that we have used Vauxhall Combo’s in stock and some great deals on 2015/65 plate Combos that have done 50-60k miles – they all come with warranties and represent fantastic leasing value.

Volkswagen Transporter

VWs and vans have a strong association ever since the iconic Camper van, but today Volkswagen brings German engineering to the medium-sized van table with its Transporter T6 van, the T6 denoting the sixth-generation of the van.

What makes the Transporter an excellent option for tradespeople? The combination of well-engineered engines keep running costs to a minimum – VW’s BlueMotion Technology comes as standard across the range, providing excellent fuel efficiency to the range – up to 47.9mpg in the dedicated BlueMotion model. As a working van, it’s a great vehicle for any job. The Volkswagen Transporter is offered in two wheelbases, three roof heights with a load volume of 5.8 to 9.3 cubic metres and can carry payloads of up to 1,217kg and here at Zero Deposit Car Leasing you can choose both new and used models of this fantastic range.

Renault Trafic

The Renault Trafic comes with a wider choice than most vans, and for a sole trader looking for the perfect van for their needs, that’s a huge positive. The Trafic has a short wheel and long wheelbase plus two different roof heights. Load volumes are impressive ranging from 5.2 metres cubed through to a massive 8.6 metres cubed and a payload of 1,269 kgs.

There are four diesel engines which are all a version of the 1.6-litre dCi where miles per gallon are as high as 47.9 and CO2 emissions as low as 155g/km. The Renault Trafic is also very practical with the extra load space meaning that it can transport items up to 4.15 metres long within the van by using the space under the passenger seat. You can also choose between a panel van, a crew vehicle seating up to six or a passenger vehicle that will transport nine people. Right now, we have a special deal on the SWB Diesel 120 Renault Trafic and we also have used ones at under £200 per month with no deposit to pay.

Mercedes-Benz Vito

What’s not to like when it comes to the Mercedes-Benz Vito? With three lengths and weight variants, two turbocharged engines with five power outputs and the Mercedes Benz badge this is a medium-sized van overflowing with custom options.

The panel van comes in three lengths and will load up to 6.6 cubic metres or 1145 kgs in its largest format. The crew van easily takes six people but still allows up to a tonne of payload while the Tourer will swallow nine people and the Urban is set up for City driving with Navigation, automatic gearbox and reverse camera coming as standard.

One major consideration is that Mercedes-Benz vans have legendary retained value where depreciation is reduced thanks to the Vito van’s build quality and desirability. This translates into cheaper lease deals so you can ride in rugged luxury and when you add in the fact that we have no deposit lease deals and can deliver your new Vito anywhere in the country, you know it makes sense.

Vauxhall Vivaro

The Vauxhall Vivaro, made in Britain, is an outstanding choice of Van and as a new version is expected in early 2019 there are loads of bargains to be had for both new and used Vivaro vans. With the most spacious load area in its class (the Vivaro can carry up to 1.2 tons and 8.6m3), excellent build quality and well laid out, thoughtful interiors, the Vivaro is bound to please all comers.

With a choice of 1.6-litre engines the Vivaro will do up to 46.3 mpg and as little as 160g CO2 when you add the stop/start and brake energy regeneration option. It’s not all about load and practicality, however. The Vivaro continues to reassure with its strong NCAP safety rating, airbags and head restraints. It also comes in 3 layouts, the popular panel van, a double cab which seats 6 and a combi for people carrying with generous luggage space. The Vivaro is a proven, rugged contender and when you combine all of its fine attributes with Zero Deposit Car Leasing’s no deposit deals and our huge panel of lenders that are here to give you a great deal, it’s the perfect combination.

Citroen Relay

The Citroen Relay is a big Van. Even the entry-level Relay is ready for the job and includes emergency braking assistance, overhead storage, steering mounted radio controls and electronic traction control. The top of the range Enterprise delivers cruise control, air conditioning, rear parking sensors and a touch screen audio pack.

Rugged reliability is a key feature of the Relay and from a safety point of view, stability control, hill- start, ABS and emergency braking are all standard so you can rely on the Citroen when it really counts. If you want a solid, big Van then the Relay remains an excellent choice and we are more than happy to help you with the huge choice in sizes and engines that come with the Citroen Relay – just call and speak to one of our friendly account managers.

Ford Transit Custom

The Ford Transit Custom outsells every other panel van in the UK and it’s for good reason – this powerhouse van offers excellent load carrying capabilities and also provides an economical drive, making it the van of choice for sole traders around the country.

We say no surprise because the Ford Transit Custom leaves all in its wake when you consider that the standard equipment, complementing the new sharp looks courtesy of the 2018 facelift, include: Remote locking, dual front passenger seat, eight-way adjustable seat and metal bulkhead together with the ever-popular Bluetooth. There is also a huge choice of useful add-ons like pre-collision assist with autonomous emergency braking, speed assist and blind-spot and cross traffic alert.
