7 zero-deposit, great-value city cars
City cars are all the rage and when you pair them with a great value zero deposit lease deal you know that you are onto a winner. Zero Deposit has gathered 7 of our favourite city cars all in one place but you can get the full range of our zero deposit city lease car deals here.
First up the cute Renault Twingo which is front and centre when it comes to economy, practicality and efficiency in a small car package.
This mini hatchback has its frugal 3 cylinder engine in the boot which means that the front wheels can rotate fully inwards and that in turn means that the Twingo can pretty much spin in its own length. The engine is only a 900cc turbo but that also means only 95g/km of CO2 emissions and 67 miles per gallon in fuel efficiency according to Renault.
Inside the Twingo, the focus is on fun and its retro looks and trims are highly customisable with great trims to pick from like “Fashion”, “Chic”, “Urban” and “Street”. The Renault Twingo is the perfect city car and delivers in terms of zippiness and zaniness along with economy, efficiency and practicality.
The Volkswagen up! Has excellent city car credentials. We love the way that the up! is so down to earth (even for what is normally a top end brand) and how it represents the spirit of being a car for “the people” without compromising on economy and its quirky looks. There are now 6 models and a choice of 7 engines in the VW up! range and you can pick the up! In either a 3 door or a 5 door version.
Performance is also surprising as the up! gets a 0-62 mph time of just 8.8 seconds which is squeezed from its 1.0 litre turbocharged engine. There is also a VW e-up! version which has amazing green credentials but is on the expensive side so it’s just as well we have lease deals and can accommodate zero deposit deals.
Peugeot has made a concerted effort in recent years to give you as much choice as possible and it’s no different when it comes to this little tike where there are 9 different combinations of Peugeot 108 that you can pick from ranging from the entry-level Access 3 door right through to the Top! With its sliding roof and it’s reassuring to know that all these are available with no deposit contribution to make them even more accessible.
The Peugeot 108 is less than 3 and a half metres long which means that it’s perfect for city driving and nabbing that awkwardly small parking space near the school gates.
Even though the Peugeot 108 retails for under £10k brand new, standard features in the entry-level Access still include electric front windows, power assisted steering, remote locking, ABS and 6 x airbags from a safety point of view which is amazing in such a cheap car. For not a lot more money though you get to add loads of features as you move up the 9 options from a colour reversing camera to lane departure warning, active city brake (which reduces accidents and accident severity) a colour 7” touchscreen, alloys and serious smartphone interfaces.
The 1.0 litre petrol engine goes on the small of an oil stained cravat so you get up to 69 miles to the gallon and emissions only register at 93 g/km CO2. The Peugeot 108 is a fantastic city car option but it’s even better when you add a zero deposit deal.
The Hyundai i10 makes the perfect, practical car for families with low car insurance rates, a zero deposit deal and the Hyundai i10 will easily take 3 kids in the back and 2 adults up front.
The Hyundai i10 comes with either a 1.0 litre petrol or 1.2 litre petrol engine with the small engine throwing off 66PS while the larger 1.2 litre gets 87PS which makes it a better option if you plan to do motorway driving. It comes in 5 trim versions, the S, the SE, the Go!SE, Premium and Premium SE with the Go!Se probably representing the best value with 14” alloys, a fair amount of leather, air con, cruise control, Bluetooth, Satnav and a load of safety equipment.
The build quality on the Hyundai i10 is also excellent and the 5 year unlimited mileage warranty often makes the difference when our customers look at no deposit city cars which are inexpensive to lease and maintain.
The Suzuki Ignis is like a Jack Russell that always wants to come out and play. It’s got a fresh and cheeky retro look on the inside with its two-tone confident style and on the outside, it shows character and a careless attitude which we suspect transfers to its owners!
The Ignis loves the city and it’s not surprising when you consider the willing value based little 1.2 litre petrol engine and its small turning circle coupled with an ability to zip between traffic and into the tightest parking spaces. Though it is diminutive, it still easily takes 4 adults.
Regardless of which version of Ignis you choose, either the SZ3, the SZ-T or The Adventure you get an impressive list of safety kit including ABS, side impact protection, tyre pressure monitoring, lots of airbags and an electronic stability system. One interesting point to mention is its small battery weighing only 7 Kgs where the Ignuis holds some power in reserve which is ideal when faced with a steep hill.
Running costs are low from insurance through to fuel ( 61 mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 97g/km ) and the Ignis represents great value when paired with a no deposit lease deal.
The Skoda Citigo is another winner in the small city car space and its not surprising as it shares a lot of parts with the VW up!
You can pick from a 3 door or a 5 door version but either one will happily take 4 adults. The boot is also relatively spacious with more than 250 litres of space.
Engine choice is quite straightforward with a 1.0 litre petrol engine that either produces 59 or 73 bhp depending on which one you pick though we would go for the larger engine unless pure, relatively flat, city driving is all that you do.
There are 5 trims available for the Citigo from the S to the SE, SE L, Colour Edition and the range-topping Monte Carlo. The beauty of leasing and in particular zero deposit leasing is that you can often afford the best spec without laying out much extra and the Monte Carlo has got to be the way to go with a vast amount of leather, chrome and red stitching plus air conditioning (manual) and Bluetooth.
Whichever Skoda Citygo you are after we have the no deposit lease deal to match for this practical, interesting and affordable mini city car.
The Citroen C1 is a dinky city car that carries itself with style.
If you have a large family or large family members then this is not the car for you but the C1 still manages around 780 litres of space with the rear seats down but don’t expect more than 200 litres with the seats in normal position.
You can pick from either a 1.0 litre engine or a 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine which has 3 cylinders and enough attitude to milk 83 PS, 54 miles to the gallon and just under 100g/km of CO2 emissions. The normally aspirated 1.0 litre only produces 73PS and a 0-62 mph time of 12.6 seconds.
The interior of the Citroen C1 is sharp and full of fun touches and comes in 4 trims with the “Feel”, the “Flair” the “Urban ride” and the top of the range “Elle”. The top of the range Elle has a 7” touchscreen infotainment system, air conditioning, 15” alloys and smartphone interface. Safety features are relatively good with 6 airbags and an ESP system. Optional Active City Brake also helps to avoid low-speed incidents while lane departure warning is always welcome, especially for those that do motorway miles.
The Citroen C1 is a solid option in the city car stakes and we have zero deposit deals to go with the C1 of your choice so you can pick the payment term that suits you and not have to worry about finding a deposit.
